(1) Rated tension

The load capacity of an electric winch is mainly reflected in its rated tension. Rated tension refers to the maximum tension that a winch can exert under specific conditions. When selecting a winch, you should select the appropriate rated tension according to actual needs to ensure that the winch can meet the use requirements.

Generally speaking, the number in the winch model often indicates its maximum tension (such as "8000 lbf winch" means that its maximum tension is 8000 pounds). When selecting, it is recommended to use a tension of 1.5 times the vehicle's own weight to ensure that it can be successfully rescued in an emergency.

(2) Rope capacity and line speed

The rope capacity and line speed of an electric winch are also important factors affecting its load capacity. The rope capacity determines the longest distance the winch can pull, while the line speed determines the working efficiency of the winch during the pulling process.

When selecting a winch, you should select the appropriate rope capacity and line speed according to actual needs. For example, in scenarios where long-distance pulling is required, a winch with a larger rope capacity should be selected; in scenarios where rapid pulling is required, a winch with a faster line speed should be selected.

2. Guidelines for safe use
(1) Stable installation
The electric winch must be installed on a stable fulcrum to ensure that no accidents occur during the pulling process due to unstable fulcrums. During installation, ensure that the connection between the winch and the fulcrum is firm and there is no looseness.
(2) Check the ropes and cables
Before use, carefully check whether the ropes and cables of the winch are intact and free of wear and tear. At the same time, ensure that there are enough turns of the rope on the drum (generally more than 5 turns are recommended) to prevent the cable from loosening from the drum when under heavy load.
(3) Correct operation
When operating the electric winch, follow the steps in the manual to avoid safety accidents caused by misoperation. At the same time, ensure that the winch clutch is in the correct position and maintain control of the winch during the pulling process.
(4) Observe the safe distance
When using an electric winch for rescue or towing, ensure that you maintain a safe distance from the rescued vehicle or object to prevent the rope from breaking or the winch from being damaged due to excessive tension.
(5) Regular inspection and maintenance
Regular inspection and maintenance of the electric winch is an important guarantee for its long-term safe use. The inspection content includes but is not limited to: the wear of the winch motor, gears, bearings and other components; the integrity of the ropes and cables; whether the electrical connection is firm, etc. At the same time, the winch should also be cleaned and lubricated to extend its service life.
(6) Comply with relevant regulations
When using an electric winch, you should comply with local traffic regulations and vehicle use regulations. Especially when performing vehicle rescue or towing, you should ensure that the operation is legal and compliant to avoid legal disputes and safety hazards caused by it.
